Tanya Tysland named Palmer Lutheran CEO

 

 

 

Tanya Tysland, BS, MBA, DM, has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Tysland, who joined Gundersen in 2013, has served as interim CEO at Palmer Lutheran since December 2014.

“I am very honored and excited to accept the CEO position at Palmer Lutheran. Serving as interim CEO for the last five months, I have witnessed the great patient care, compassion and teamwork of the staff, proving each one believes in Palmer’s motto of ‘Patients First,’” said Tysland.

They wore all shades of green clothing, from shamrock and kelly to teal and lime. It didn’t matter if the colors matched. Because Friday’s assembly at North Fayette Valley High School was about mental health awareness, and the theme was to wear green.

One in four people today lives with mental illness.

To emphasize that statistic, North Fayette Valley junior Krista Moellers used cards handed out to each person who attended the school assembly. Those with specific wording stood at her request, to give the audience an image of just how many people live with the challenges caused by mental illness.

Martin leads WC girls

 

 

Brianna Martin led the West Central girls’ golf team in Regional golf action Monday, May 18, in Nashua.

The freshman shot a 65 on the front nine and a sparkling 53 on the back nine for an 18-hole total of 118.

Kenzie Squires finished her freshman season with a 66-60-126. Senior Mary Scott was third for the Blue Devils with her rounds of 72-63-135.

Mary McDonough and Cheridan Brickman tied for fourth with rounds of 143. Brickman shot a 72-71, while McDonough carded a 73-70.

Ann Walenceus came in with rounds of 74-75-149.

As a team, the Devils were sixth in the seven-team field with a 522. Only Walenceus is a senior, so the future looks bright for Devil golf.

The South Winn boys’ golf team traveled to Guttenberg Monday morning for the UIC Golf Tournament. At the end of the day, there was a familiar name at the top of the leader board: Logan Schweinefus.

The South Winn junior carded a 74, four strokes ahead of the runner-up, to lead all golfers and earn medalist honors.

Anthony Emanuel and Tanner Kuennen each shot 82 to contribute to the Warriors’ team score of 322.
