Miss Hawkeye candidates ready for Fun Days
The 36th annual Hawkeye Fun Days celebration is set for June 19-20, with a theme of “Fun with Superheroes.” Three young ladies will be contending for the crown of Miss Hawkeye during this year’s festivities.
Jessica Boess, daughter of Brian and Melissa Boess, is being sponsored by Farmers Win Co-op. She recently completed her junior year at North Fayette Valley High School, where she participated in FFA, was president of the Family Consumer Science Club, and a member of the Art Club.
Boess has earned her State FFA degree, has been on the Honor Roll, and has been involved with volunteer work for Ronald McDonald House and U.S. military troops. She works at K&K Gardens and the Fayette County Speedway.
Outside of school, Jessica has been a counselor at 4-H Pine Bluff Camp, president of the Bethel Generators 4-H Club, and a 12-year member of Clover Kids 4-H.
Jessica’s hobbies include fishing, showing rabbits at the fair, and watching sporting events.
After graduating from high school, she plans to attend St. Luke’s Unity Point Medical Center in order to become a radiology technician.
Brea Hanson, the daughter of Bryce and Stephanie Hanson, is being sponsored by Hawkeye Telephone Company. She recently completed her junior year at North Fayette Valley High School, where she was involved in band, chorus, basketball, and volleyball.
Hanson has earned Division I ratings at music contest, has been on the Honor Roll, and earned letters for participation in band, chorus, and basketball.
Outside of school, Brea has been a member of the Girl Scouts and Trinity Lutheran Youth Group. She also works as a babysitter, providing childcare for three local families.
Brea’s hobbies include volleyball, basketball, fishing, mushroom hunting, dirt track racing, camping, and photography.
She plans to attend Hawkeye Community College after graduating from high school and would like to become an occupational therapy assistant.
Tiffanie Koch is the daughter of Dwane and Roni Sue Koch and is being sponsored by K&K Gardens. She recently completed her sophomore year at North Fayette Valley High School, where she participated in volleyball, drill team, track, and FFA, for which she served as chapter reporter.
Koch has received awards for FFA events in which she has participated as well as her 4-H record book. She has also volunteered her time to help local organizations with fundraisers.
Outside of school, Tiffanie is a member of the Windsor Sparkplugs 4-H Club and Zion Lutheran Youth Group. She has worked at K&K Gardens for the past four summers.
Tiffanie’s hobbies include running, swimming, volleyball, and babysitting.
After graduating from high school, she plans to attend Central College and would like to become a physical therapist.
