“We played pretty well, considering the conditions,” opined NFV head coach Bob Lape after his team beat Oelwein, 38-15, Friday night in Oelwein.

About the driving rain that fell through most of the game, Lape noted, “It ranks right up there as some of the worst weather I’ve seen in my years here; it was much worse than our first game in Decorah. I’m just thankful there wasn’t any lightning to delay the game.”

For Tristan Miller, a long sought-after goal is becoming clearer now with each passing day. After eight years as a Scout, starting out in third grade as a Bear Cub, Miller is only days away from achieving the level of Eagle Scout. The West Union teen has been busy putting the final touches on the necessary paperwork and should soon receive a call inviting him to a final interview.

“Once they have received all my information, I will have my board of review, and then I will find out if I am an Eagle Scout. I have been pretty busy these last few weeks, finishing up my project and now working on the paperwork,” said Miller, who is a junior at North Fayette Valley High School.

It’s that time of the fall when school spirit is at an all-time high and royalty walk amongst us. No, not British royalty, but North Fayette Valley’s Homecoming royalty. Nor was anyone placed in Gryffindor by the sorting hat, although there may still be some hope with Harry Potter as the theme this year.
