It took four grueling sets and almost 1:45, but North Fayette Volleyball advanced in Class 3A Regional volleyball action with a 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17 win over Oelwein Monday (Oct 26) in West Union.

With the win, NFV earned the right to play sixth-ranked Center Point-Urbana, Thursday, in Center Point. Game time will be 7 p.m.

Monday’s match against the Huskies was an action-filled contest with many long volleys. Long runs were very few as the two teams traded points in a real slugfest.

North Fayette Valley won its second straight Class 2A District 3 championship Friday night with a 19-0 shutout in New Hampton.

For the seniors the crown this year makes a three peat for them, as the TigerHawks won a district crown in Class 1A before the move back to Class 2A.

With the win and victories by Waukon and Beckman, District 3 ended in a three-way tie at 5-1. However, NFV won the gold ring because the tiebreaker is point differential and that favored the TigerHawks.

With the title, comes home field advantage throughout the first three playoff. games.

The first game will be tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 28), against Cascade. Note: the kickoff will be moved to 7 p.m. for the playoffs.

Shell Express rebranded to BP

Jim and Joyce Moss recently rebranded their gas station from Shell Express to BP (British Petroleum) Express at the intersection of Highways 150 and 18 in West Union because they wanted to upgrade the station. BP pursued the couple hard and offered incentives they just couldn’t refuse.
