Mason James Eugene Cole was born at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, to his loving parents Mitchell and Amber Cole  and his 5-year-old big sister Macie Cole of Elkader. The parents are very appreciative of the gifts and support they have received from local businesses.

The birth of a child, whether a firstborn or not, is always a special moment, one parents will never forget.

Mitchell and Amber Cole of Elkader were the first to experience that moment at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, with the birth of their son, Mason James Eugene Cole. The PLHC New Year’s Baby weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces and measured 19 inches.
