January is National Mentoring Month, and the North Fayette Valley Mentoring program is promoting greater awareness of the opportunities available both through being a mentor or a mentee.

Mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to adulthood.

Jennifer Everitt, a paraeducator at West Union Elementary, has been a mentor for Destiny Quario of West Union since 2008.

The eyes of the nation will be on Iowa on Monday, Feb. 1, as the Hawkeye state holds it presidential caucuses.

With so many candidates on the Republican side and a very tight race on the Democratic side, the fate of some candidates’ campaigns lies with each individual Iowan who decides to participate.

How do the caucuses work and how do you participate at one of the 1,774 precincts in the state of Iowa?
