Supervisors vote down land purchase for county shop

By Chris Deback
cdeback@thefayettecountyunion.com

In a 2-1 decision, the Fayette County Supervisors voted against the purchase of land for a new county maintenance complex, for now, at its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 15.

There was interest in purchasing approximately 17.56 acres of land zoned industrial, but classified as agricultural because it is currently being farmed, for $160,000 behind Bemiss Distributing. This is the same location the Supervisors would have built the maintenance complex had the bond referendum passed in March.
