Beermann to coach FB at Waukon

Former Valley head football coach Chad Beermann was hired Tuesday, Feb. 26, as the head football coach at Waukon.

Beermann, who has been the head man for the Tigers for 17 years (1996-2012), had looked at a couple of different positions but only applied at Waukon.

“It is a good fit,” stated Beermann. Ted Snitker, a former assistant at Valley was stepping down as Waukon’s head coach, but would stay involved with the program, particularly in the weight room. Also, his brother, John, who was a line coach at North Fayette, is the line coach at Waukon. So, I would be working with some good people that I know.”

And Beermann jokingly added, “I can still wear black on the sideline (Waukon’s colors are orange and black), and there will be a Torkelson around.”

The former Tiger mentor was also attracted by the fact that Waukon went 9-3 last year and has some good athletes returning at the skill positions.

Beermann added, “If there was a time I was going to make a move, this was the time, and the job was very attractive.”

The successful coach will continue to work at his job in West Union.

“I’m still coaching track at Valley this spring, and I told the kids that I wasn’t leaving them; we are just both going in different directions,” Beermann concluded.
