Memorial service set for May 25

Karen K. Sensor, 65, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her home in Harlingen, Texas, after an eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service will be held at Randalia United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25.

Karen Kae Sensor, the daughter of Lois Bierschenk and Harry Scoles, was born Aug. 28, 1947.

Raised in Nashua, she graduated from high school in 1965.  During her high school years she played the flute in the band and sang solos at The Little Brown Church in the Vale.  

Karen graduated from Hamilton Business College and the University of Northern Iowa. 

She and Donn Sensor were united in marriage on May 24, 1969, at First Congregational Church in Nashua.  The couple had two children.  

Karen was an elementary teacher in Cedar Falls and more recently a teacher of children with behavior disabilities in Clinton.  She retired in 2001.  

The Sensors spent winters at their home in Harlingen, Texas, and the summers in their RV near Fayette.  

Karen’s favorite activities included sewing, gardening, and entertaining.  

In addition to her husband, Donn, Karen is survived by a son, Scott (Melissa) Sensor; a daughter, Sarah; three grandchildren, Mitchell, Caleb, and Lauren; her father- and mother-in-law, Arthur and Marian Sensor; a sister-in-law, Ann Rogal; brother- and sister-in-law Wayne and Cindy Sensor; brother- and sister-in-law Paul and Carol Sensor; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
