Funeral services for Beverly B. “Bev” Crowe, 91, of West Union were held Friday, April 19, at United Methodist Church in West Union with the Rev. Scott Keele Kober officiating.

Interment will be in the West Union Cemetery.

Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Home of West Union was in charge of arrangements.

Bev died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Minnesota, where she had been receiving care since her husband Sid's death in January.

Beverly Bess (Kutschat) Crowe was born March 5, 1922, in Oelwein to Arthur and Lucille Marie (Bivens) Kutschat.

After her graduation from West Union, High School in 1939, she continued her education at Upper Iowa University, where she pursued pre-med training, followed by one year at Kahler School of Nursing.

Beverly was united in marriage with John Sidney "Sid" Crowe Jr. on Aug. 6, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo., during Sid's active military duty.

After returning to West Union, Sidney and Beverly moved into the family farmhouse. Bev enjoyed living and working on the Crowe farm until she and Sid retired from farm life.

Early in her married life, Bev also worked six years in the local physician's office as an assistant and receptionist.

She was a very active member of United Methodist Church in West Union. Bev was also a member of Past Matrons and Eastern Star, having been appointed Grand Adah in 1971.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a local league.

In addition to her husband, Sid, Bev was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Sidney Crowe and Alan John Crowe; and a sister, Roena Nehring.

She is survived by a brother, Ed Kutschat of El Paso, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Serena Crowe of Marion; five grandsons, Rob (Nancy) Crowe of Shakopee, Minn., Scott (Shauna) Crowe of Golden Valley, Minn., Wade Crowe and Matt Crowe, both of West Union, and Brent (Liz) Crowe of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Methodist Church in West Union.
