Memorial service held in Ossian

A memorial service for Steven W. Stanbrough, 57, of Ossian was held Tuesday, June 11, at Living Hope Baptist Church in Ossian. Pastor Joseph Needham officiated.

Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Auburn at a later date.

Steven died suddenly on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis.

Steven Wayne Stanbrough, son of Earl and Carolyn Stanbrough, was born Oct. 30, 1955, in Hampton.

As a young boy, he attended and was baptized at First Baptist Church in West Union.

After his graduation from North High School in West Union, Steven studied automobile mechanics at Area One Vocational Technical School (now NICC) in Calmar.

He was employed as a mechanic at John Falb Co. in West Union. Later he did farmhand work for Art Molokken and Dale Pape and worked for Steve Bushman. Steven was forced to retire due to his declining health.

In addition to working on cars, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, family get-togethers and being with friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Earl, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn, of Sumner; siblings Marty (Nancy) Stanbrough, Bruce (Carol) Stanbrough, Becky (Joe) Schott, Rose Stanbrough (friend Jay Homewood), Betsy (Rob) Raymer; nieces and nephews.
