Heins brothers three-peat in golf tourney

They did it again! The team of brothers Justin, Chris, and Derek Heins won its third consecutive title at the Main Street West Union Fundraising Golf Tournament held Sunday, July 14, at the West Union Country Club. The trio scored a 58 in the 18-hole, three-person, best-shot tourney. 

Eleven teams participated this year. Flight results for the top three places were as follows: 

First Flight

  1. 1. Justin, Chris, Derek Heins (58)
  2. 2. Skip, Mark, Brady Ney (61)
  3. 3. Troy Johansen, Rob Van Horn, Tom Kehe (62)

Second Flight

  1. 1. Matt McElree, Andy Meyer, Bud Johnson (67; win by cardback)
  2. 2. Rod and Ty Hemry, Mike Corcoran (67)
  3. 3. Erin Heins, Sarah Miller, Brenda James (69)

Winners in the flag events were as follows:

Hole #1: Closest to the 8” cup on tee shot – Mark Ney (15 inches);

Hole #3: Longest drive in the fairway – Derek Heins;

Hole #5: Shortest drive in the fairway – Rod Hemry;

Hole #7: Closest to the 8” cup on the second shot – John Pleggenkuhle (6 ft. 4 inches);

Hole #9: Longest putt to either cup – Justin Heins (12 ft.). 

All net proceeds from the tournament will go toward Main Street West Union’s community projects.
