Elgin Homecoming plans for 2014 have begun, under the guidance of committee co-chairs Mary Schott and Cindy Torkelson. Elgin Homecoming 2014 is scheduled for June 19 – 22, 2014.  The theme, “A Chance to Come Home”, was submitted by Judy Ash and chosen in May of this year.

The committee met in early August with approximately 20 people in attendance and will continue meeting regularly in preparation for the big event. Already in place for the celebration is a street dance featuring the Challenger Band and a Festival of Lights Parade by local firemen, both scheduled for Saturday evening, June 21.

The committee is still in need of volunteers to help with planning and facilitating the celebration. Anyone who might be interested in volunteering to serve on the committee or help with Homecoming 2014 in any way may contact Mary Schott at (563) 426-5834 or Cindy Torkelson at (563) 426-5797.

The next scheduled committee meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Elgin Public Library.
