The North Fayette wrestling team was almost washed out by Old Man Winter. Both Tuesday’s (Jan. 14) dual meet at Wapsie Valley and the Saturday tournament in Hudson were cancelled by the weather.

Thursday’s double dual in Sumner was postponed for a day, but made up Friday, Jan. 17.

In that meet, the TigerHawks ran their dual streak to 9-0 before falling to two-time defending UIC champion Sumner-Fredericksburg.

NFV opened with a 47-27 win over South Winn. The TigerHawks got pins by Brian Jensen, Nick Wander, Austin DeMuth, and Dalton Lape; Jared Kerr earned a 16-1 technical fall.

With four defending UIC champions in the lineup, S-F won six of the first seven matches. Nick Baumler stopped the bleeding with a major decision. Later, Tyler Johansen and Dalton Lape scored pins to narrow the final margin, 40-28.
