This Friday will be Pack-the-Gym Night in Maynard as Clayton Ridge comes to town for a pair of basketball games. There will be a soup supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with the girls’ game starting   at 6:30 and the boys’ tipoff at 7:45 p.m.

Last week, West Central   basketball teams managed to get in only one game after the game at Starmont on Tuesday, Jan. 14, was postponed due to the weather.

In the home games on Friday, the boys scratched out a 49-46 win over Turkey Valley. In the first game, the girls lost to the Trojans, 50-19.

In the girls’ contest, the shooting woes continued for the Blue Devil gals, as they went 6-35 from the field, 1-14 from 3-point range and 6-13 from the charity stripe.

Jenni Hollinrake and Mary Michels led the scoring with six and five points, respectively. Made Grimm and Hollinrake were the top rebounders with seven and six, respectively.

The WC boys had to rally in the final six minutes to pull out a 49-46 victory.

The Blue Devils were down by 10 with about six minutes to go when WC got hot from the outside. Back-to-back treys coupled with some nice outside jumpers over a four-minute span gave the Devils a lead with two minutes to play.

After that the D took over and the Devils hit enough free throws to salt the game away.
