Grimm declines State berth; WC golfers 5th in District

The West Central boys’ golf team finished fifth in the nine-team District Tournament at the Pheasant Ridge course in Cedar Falls.

Chase Grimm shot a 36-43-79 to qualify for a trip to the State tournament in Marshalltown.

However, the senior opted out of the tourney in favor of accompanying his classmates on their senior trip to Washington, D.C.

“It was a tough decision,” Grimm admitted.

As a team, the Blue Devils shot a 358 at District. The Devils were within three strokes of fourth, and beat both Starmont and Tripoli, who finished ahead of WC at the Sectional Meet.
