Carol Lee Miner, 74, of Fayette, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Hyeunmee Kang officiating.

Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette.

A public visitation will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in Fayette.

Carol was born on January 10, 1940 to Thomas and Ruth (Book) Smale on the family farm in rural Sumner, Iowa. Carol was baptized and confirmed at the Randalia Methodist Church in Randalia, Iowa.

She graduated from Sumner High School in 1958 and Pitzie’s School of Beauty in Waterloo.

Carol was united in marriage to Kenneth Miner at the United Methodist Church in Randalia on May 24, 1959. Four children were born to this marriage; Brooks, Guy, Wade and Carmen. The couple made their home in Fayette.

Carol held several jobs in the area including the Maynard Coop, Maple Crest Manor, Cedar Court and various beauty salons. Carol enjoyed cake decorating, playing cards, sewing, going to the casino, card clubs, spending time with grandchildren and breakfast at Boike’s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fayette and the women’s auxiliary club.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Fayette; three children, Guy (Sheryl) Miner of Castalia, Wade (Bonnie) Miner of Havelock, North Carolina, and Carmen Miner of West Des Moines; 8 grandchildren, Seth (Jennifer) Miner, Cody (Gerilynn Blue) Miner, Tanner (Kira Schroth) Miner, Cory (Stacy) Miner, Casie (Phillip Eichenberger) Miner, Christa (Isaac Jacobson) Miner, April (Ryan) Constans and Danielle Miner; 5 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Pruitt, Nolan Constans, Brooks Miner, Cameron Jacobs and Regan Miner; a daughter-in-law, Eleanor (Jim) Miner-Hageman; and two sisters, Donna Mae Niemann and JoAnn Ruth Fink.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brooks Miner; and two brothers-in-law, Eugene Niemann and LeRoy Sargent.
