SW drops, 4-1, in State quarterfinal

A sea of red supporters filled the first-base line of Principal Park in Des Moines on Monday afternoon in support of the South Winn baseball team as it faced Roland-Story in the State quarterfinals.

Making it to the big stage in baseball for the first time in school history, the Warriors took the field visibly nervous against a seasoned Norseman squad, falling, 4-1.

“Unfortunately, we made some mistakes early in this game that we couldn't quite recover from on the defensive side of things. Roland-Story is a well-coached team and was an opportunistic team today, as they made us pay for our early defensive miscues,” said SW coach Ben Obermann. “With that being said, once we settled in after an inning and a half, I thought we played very solid baseball.”
