In its only meet last week, the North Fayette Valley cross country team ventured to Waukon. Three TigerHawks earned medals for top-25 performances.

Class 3A Decorah may have dominated the team standings in the boys’ race, but Danny Halva, who is currently ranked third in Class 2A by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC), dominated a field of 62 runners, winning in 16:43; the runner-up came in at 17:29.

Head coach Cassie Gruman said, “Danny ran an impressive, smart race as he gradually pulled away from the competition.”

Cameron Amos also had a nice time at 19:33, good enough for 26th place. As a team, the TigerHawks placed sixth.

The girls’ team, now 11th in Class 2A, finished one place better at fifth. Once again, Decorah dominated the team race with 26 points; Central/Elkader was runner-up with 98 points.
