The caravan of fans is expected to wind from the valleys of Clermont, Elgin, and Wadena, through West Union, Fayette, Hawkeye, and beyond as fans travel to the UNI-Dome Friday to cheer on the TigerHawks.

For the first time since 1992, the local fans will be rooting for the hometown TigerHawks and a potential state high school football championship. Awaiting NFV at the 2:06 p.m. kickoff will be their Class 2A opponents, the Warriors of Sioux Center.

Sioux Center advanced to the title tilt with a 47-7 victory over Albia. North Fayette Valley followed with a 42-13 win over Dyersville-Beckman (see page A5) during Saturday’s semifinal schedule.

While the TigerHawks and Warriors both post 12-1 records, NFV has been deemed the visiting team.

Friday classes have been cancelled at North Fayette and Valley Elementary, as well as North Fayette Valley Middle School and High School.

Championship game tickets are available at both North Fayette Valley High School and North Fayette Valley Middle School. Twenty-five cents from each ticket purchased at the local schools will remain with the school district.

For those unable to make the trip to Cedar Falls, each of the championship games will be televised live on local channels KFXA Channel 28 and KCRG 9.2. Live video and audio broadcasts can also be viewed at www.ihssn.com.

The entire Friday championship schedule includes Class 1A (11:06 a.m.) – West Lyon, Inwood (12-1) vs. Regina, Iowa City (12-1)

Class 2A (2:06 p.m.) – Sioux Center (12-1) vs. North Fayette Valley (12-1).

Class 4A (7:06 p.m.) – Dowling Catholic, WDM (12-1) vs. Cedar Rapids, Washington (13-0).
