The West Central girls’ basketball team opened its 2014-15 season last Tuesday, Dec. 2, at home against Postville. The Pirates were able to edge the Blue Devils by a score of 34-21.

Entering the final quarter of play, the Blue Devils trailed by only one point. However, they were not able to overcome a strong final quarter from the Pirates.

West Central was led by freshman Kenzie Squires with six points. She also added eight rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Senior Erin Lehs was strong in the paint for WC, pulling down 10 rebounds and recording a block.

West Central hosted Valley Lutheran on Monday night and Turkey Valley on Tuesday night; however, results and statistics were not available at press time.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Starmont, and again on Tuesday, Dec. 16, when the girls travel to Clayton Ridge.
