Season opens at Fayette County Speedway

The 2015 racing season opened Friday night at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union.

Steve Lane of Elgin not only won his heat in the Flyers, but he also won the feature race.

Maynard’s Billy Rhoades brought home the first trophy of the season in the Hobby Stock feature. Rachel Darnall, the teenage daughter of Mike and Kandi Darnall took up the family tradition of racing, finishing sixth in her first-ever Hobby Stock race.

Tripoli’s Jacob Steere steered to victory in the Mod Lites, and Dillon Anderson of Decorah won the Stock feature. Meanwhile, Kyle Anderson of Decorah held off a strong field to win the B Mod feature.

Racing continues this Friday with hot laps at 7 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
