Barry Krohn

The heavens are rejoicing and the earth is mourning.  Barry Paul Krohn, 61, entered into eternal peace on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at his home in Johnston, with his loving wife, Kara, by his side.

Barry was born on April 3, 1954, in the Infirmary Annex, U.S. Naval Air Station in San Diego, Calif.  He was the beloved son of the late Robert and Sara Krohn. 

He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1972.

Barry was a master carpenter and retired from The Wietz Company in 2010.

He married Kara (Lehman) Weigel, the love of his life, on Jan. 28, 2005. 

During their retirement years they lived in Zephyrhills, Fla., traveling to many exotic and exciting places and enjoying adventures with their many friends.  

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sara Krohn; and his grandparents, Emil and Amanda Krohn and George and Gladys Oxley.  

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his family, including his daughter, Jessica Samuelson (Jeremy); his son, Spencer Krohn; his grandchildren, Harper Samuelson and Jackson Samuelson; his stepdaughter, Marah Weigel; his siblings, Lisa Newton of Ankeny, Jill Krohn of Des Moines, Jennifer Krohn of Redfield, John Krohn (Sheri) of Polk City, and Amy Hoskins (Kevin) of Arvada, Colo.; and his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Wong, Amanda Cagno, Abigail Douglas, Ian Krohn, Greta Krohn, Nicholas Hoskins and Samuel Hoskins. 

Visitation and the funeral service were held Monday, Nov. 23, at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines.
