CFSR to present 'Journey to the Stable'

If you’re looking for the perfect way to ring in the holiday season, we’ve got the perfect activity for you. On Sunday, Dec. 13, students from Ossian, Festina, Calmar, and Spillville will present a unique, one-of-a-kind fundraiser that tells the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and Christ’s birth at Serenity Valley Bed and Breakfast near Ossian.

“Journey to the Stable,” which will include CFSR students as the actors, along with live animals, soloists, a choir, and a bell choir, will be performed twice, once at 5 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.

The story will begin at the shop on the grounds with Mary and Joseph making their way to the “inn,” which is the home of Dan and Deb Hageman and the Serenity Valley Bed and Breakfast. Since the inn is full, they must look for a place to stay, and are directed to the “stable,” a small shelter by one of the ponds on the property.

Some of the songs that will be performed include “Breath of Heave,” “Do You Have a Room,” Mary Did You Know,” and “When Love is Born.” The bell choir will also perform “Silent Night.”

Guests planning to take in the show will need to make a reservation by calling Neumann Hall/CFSR at (563) 562-3045.

Guests will need to meet at the DeSales Parish parking lot to board a shuttle to Serenity Valley B&B. And remember, this will be an outdoor performance, lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, so be sure to dress accordingly.
