You may be thinking, “It’s not even Thanksgiving yet; what’s with all of the holiday talk?” Well, that’s because Christmas may be closer than you think, and the city of Calmar, along with the Calmar Commercial Club, is ready to help you ring in the holiday season.

“Christmas in Calmar” will be celebrated in downtown Calmar from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3.

This year’s celebration is bigger than ever, offering 18 stops to help put you in the holiday spirit.

Some of the festivities include carriage rides near Heying Lumber, Bucheit Appliance, and Lentz Financial, as well as a live Nativity and candy tractors at Economy Ag, The Grinch and lefse-making at Flaskerud Floor Covering, and Nutter Butter reindeer at The Train Station.

Other highlights include photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Wiltgen Construction, chicken noodle soup and beer-tasting in the town square, and an Elf Workshop at South Winn Insurance.

There is no charge for any of these activities and the event is open to all comers, so be sure to mark Dec. 3 down on your calendar to come join in on these and many more fun holiday activities at “Christmas in Calmar”!
