'Magic of Christmas' back in Ossian

In what has become an annual tradition, Ossian will welcome the “Magic of Christmas” Friday-Sunday, Dec. 4-6. The weekend of holiday spirit is hosted by St. Francis DeSales and sponsored by the St. Francis DeSales Rosary Society.

The magic will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday evening with the opening gala at Silver Springs Country Club. The gala will feature a first look at dozens of decorated trees, holiday collections, and holiday tables, all decorated for the season.

Winetasting and a delicious hors d’oeuvres buffet is also including in the evening. Admission for Friday night is $10, with the event set to wrap up at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the “Magic of Christmas” continues with an all-day celebration from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. 

Again, the event will feature the trees, table settings, and holiday collections on display at the Silver Springs Country Club, but will also be accompanied by home tours.

Taylor Made Bed and Breakfast in Spillville, along with the homes of Ken and Lois Zajicek, Ron and Brandi Hemesath, and DeAnn Hemesath in Ossian, will be on display, in addition to the home of Harvey and Clarice Timp in rural Calmar. All locations will be decorated for your enjoyment during the Christmas season.

Directions to each location will be available at all locations Saturday. Tickets for the day are $10 per person and are good for all five locations.

A soup and salad bar will also be featured from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Silver Springs clubhouse. Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased on-site Saturday for a cost of $7.

On Sunday, the final day of the “Magic of Christmas,” coffee and rolls will be served from 9 a.m. until noon in the Silver Springs clubhouse. A freewill donation will be accepted at that time.

If you have a ticket from Friday or Saturday, there will be no admission fee necessary Sunday. 

Tours will last from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on the final day.

A framed Santa print, a three-piece Nativity set, a holiday wreath, and much more will also be given away Sunday. Tickets for the drawing will be available at all locations.

Advance tickets for the “Magic of Christmas” can be purchased at DeSales School, Becker Hardware, or Blooms on Main in Ossian. They can also be purchased at Silver Springs Country Club or at any home tour location throughout the weekend.
