Trick-or-treating this weekend

Trick-or-treating this weekend

Halloween is the sweetest holiday of the year. This weekend, the sidewalks of many local communities will be filled with young trick-or-treaters looking to stock up on candy and show off their costumes.

Local trick-or-treating details for Monday, Oct. 31, are as follows:

  • Ossian – 5:30 to 8 p.m.
  • Calmar – 5 to 8 p.m. (Trunk or Treat will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Washington St. parking lot)
  • Spillville – 6 p.m.
  • Decorah – 4 to 8 p.m.
  • West Union – 4:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Festina – 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30

Trick-or-treaters are reminded to only approach homes that have a porch light on during the specified times.

Some other safety reminders to keep in mind on Halloween night are to ensure children are wearing warm, comfortable, and visible costumes while they are out and about. Also, it is a good idea to check your children’s candy at the end of the night and to throw away any pieces that are not in their original wrappers or look as though they may have been tampered with.
