Sarah Michelle Kathleen Tinker (birth name Halldin) died in Atlanta, Georgia, on Dec. 20, 2016, where she had been a resident for six years. She was 33 years old.

Sarah was born in Des Moines on March 11, 1983. Her parents are Dr. David and Denise Tinker, formerly of Des Moines and now currently residing in Elgin. Sarah was adopted by David Tinker when she was 14.

She graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines and attended LaJames Cosmetology. Sarah loved, as she would say, “making people beautiful.”

After spending two years in Elgin, Sarah moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue her career. There, she opened her salon named Chloe until health problems compelled her to sell her salon.

Most recently Sarah was employed by Solar Dimensions in Atlanta. She was recently promoted to manager of the salon.

Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dennis Shultz and Virginia Hardman; stepgrandfather (Calvin); her paternal grandparents, Tyler and Kathleen Tinker; two maternal uncles, Mitchell and Michael Shultz; and a paternal uncle who died in infancy.

Sarah is survived by her parents, David and Denise Tinker of Elgin; a sister, Gretchen (Harvey) and their children Mason, Xavier, Quincey and Sidney of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Des Moines; brothers Jeremiah Halldin (Laura) and children Layla and Jacob of Ankeny, David D. Tinker (Bridgid) of Muscatine, formerly of Elgin, Matt Tinker (Nicole) and children Kaleb and Sammie of Des Moines, Joe Tinker of Des Moines, and Timothy Halldin (Kim) and their child, Parker.

Sarah is also survived by her grandmother Linda Baer of Madrid, Iowa; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, Dec. 30, in Des Moines.

A local Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date, at which time you are asked to please bring your memories, prayers, blessings and warm hearts to help celebrate Sarah’s life and enjoy the company of the many lives she touched.  2p2
