Ramona Clinda Everman 87, of Postville Iowa died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa.  She was born on March 11, 1929 in the Postville Hospital where she was also baptized by Rev. Finck and confirmed by Rev. Ludwig.    Ramona’s biological parents were Hall and Clinda (Gericke) Meyer.  Ramona was brought into a loving home and was raised by Leo and Mabel (Meyer) Heins when her biological mother died after childbirth. 

 

Ramona attended grade school and graduated from Postville High School.  She was very active in vocal music and band wining many honors at music contests.  In her later years she continued piano at Luther College and taught piano lessons over forty years. 

On August 17, 1947 she married Clarence Everman at St Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.  Three children were born to this union, Carol, Dianne and Hall.  The couple lived on a farm and moved to town when Hall took over the farm.

Ramona served as church secretary for Rev. Ludwig, bookkeeper for Lechtenberg Electric and clerked at the fashion shop in Postville.

Ramona shared her music with many different groups including playing the piano at nursing homes, Sunday school and church organist.  She directed children’s choirs for seventeen years and was St Paul adult choir director for several years.  She was president for LCW church women circle leader for 8 years and served on many committees in the church including teaching Sunday school, Bible school, 4H leader and a member of Post Franklin Study Club and Upper Iowa Music teachers Association and Monday Club.

She was a devout and strong woman who always put her family above everything else, and was successful in many accomplishments and achievements.

Surviving are her two daughters, Carol (Ken) Chamberlain and Dianne (Larry) Schultz and one son Hall (Denise) Everman:  two half-sisters, Reola Holtz and Vonda Williams; one sister, Dorothy (Ray) Suckow; one brother, Don Heins: eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; two half-brothers, Rodney and Wayne Meyer; one sister, Marilyn Radloff (Elmer), seven sisters -in- law; seven brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
