Mark Stewart

Mark Stewart, 63, of Elgin, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at his home in rural Elgin.

Mark Edward, the son of Delmar R. and Naomi (Christensen) Stewart, was born Nov. 13, 1953 in Oelwein, Iowa.

He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa.

Mark graduated from North High School in 1970.

Mark farmed with his family south of Elgin for many years, and he worked as a job coach for RISE in Elkader, helping disabled people work and live in society.

Mark had a passion for farming, animals, air shows, and spending time with his family. He had a joyous spirit and enjoyed life. He knew no stranger, encouraged exploring, and had a love for the outdoors that lives on in his children and grandchildren.  Mark left us too soon; we wish we had more time to make additional memories.  He will be forever in our hearts.

His legacy lives on in his children, Adam (Beata) Stewart and Brooke (Justin) Jaskowiak; grandchildren, Autumn and Ezra Jaskowiak; and Autumn Kay Franklin; his sisters, Sheila (Greg) Bryan and Sue (Tom) Sadowsky; a brother, Brian Stewart; niece, Caryn Stewart; nephews, Doug (Courtney) Bryan and Christian Stewart; an uncle, Roger Christensen; aunts, Ruth Ann Crowe and Mary (Reuben) Steffens; and Jo Heavilin.

He joins in heaven his grandparents; parents, Delmar and Naomi; a brother, Paul Stewart; his wife, Beverly (Gilley) Stewart; a nephew, Andy Bryan; a niece, Sarah Stewart; and his sister-in-law, Connie Stewart.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union, Iowa. Rev. Don Best was the officiant.

Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Services in West Union, Iowa assisted the family with arrangements.      18u18
