Three to vie for pair of at-large council seats

With the deadline passing on Thursday for individuals to file the necessary paperwork to have their names on the ballot in the upcoming November election, three Ossian residents will be challenging for two at-large seats on the Ossian City Council.

Incumbents Mitchell Holthaus and Mike Meyer will each be looking for another term, while newcomer David Knutson will challenge for one of the seats.

With the mayoral seat also up for election, incumbent Bill Green will be the only candidate on the ballot when voters go to the polls in the Tuesday, Nov. 7, election.

Other ballots throughout Winneshiek County will include the following candidates on ballots within each respective voting district:

Calmar

Mayor: Keith Frana;

Council at-large (vote for no more than two): Jason Drucker, Dennis Kleve, and TJ Schissel.

Castalia

Mayor: Margaret Jones;

Council at-large (vote for no more than two): Jamie Smith;

Council at-large (to fill a vacancy): Lowell Corlett and Marlene Mengelsen.

Spillville

Mayor: Michael Klimesh;

Council at-large (vote for no more than three): Andrew Hackman, Tom Straube, and Benjamin VanHorn.

Decorah

Mayor: Lorraine Borowski and Gary Rustad;

Council at-large (vote for no more than one): Russ Hadley and Brett Robinson;

Parks and Recreation Board (vote for no more than two): Cindy Albers, Jeff Tomlinson, and Shirley Vermance;

City of Decorah 1st Ward (vote for no more than one): Randy Schissel;

City of Decorah 3rd Ward (vote for no more than one): Andy Carlson;

City of Decorah 5th Ward (vote for no more than one): Johanna Bergan and Charles Lore.

Fort Atkinson

Council at-large (vote for no more than two): Robert Glass and Lori Jo Schroeder.

Jackson Junction

Mayor: Mae Schmitt;

Council at-large (vote for no more than five): Kenneth Kriener, Art Perry, Lana Schmitt, Richard Vrzak, and Rodney Vrzak.

Ridgeway

Council at-large (vote for no more than two): Scott Engelhardt and Ethan Novotny.
