Floyd Stensland

 

Floyd Arlie Stensland, 93 of West Union, Iowa died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Stoney Brook in West Union, Iowa. Floyd was born August 16, 1926 on the home farm one mile west Of Eldorado, Iowa, on the north side of the Turkey River. His parents were Andrew O. and Lyla (Duland) Stensland. He lived on the farm all his life, except when he served his country in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. Floyd was a member of the United States Army Artillery. After returning home, Floyd carried on farming with his father until his marriage on August 25, 1962 to Florence Elizabeth Muncie. He then purchased the farm and his parents moved to town. 

 

Floyd lost Florence on March 25, 1976. They had no children. He continued farming, raising beef cattle and caring for his timber. On May 14, 1983 Floyd was united in marriage with Arleta Ann Kleppe. They continued to live on the farm until May 2015 when they moved into assisted living in West Union, Iowa.

 

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lyla Stensland; his first wife, Florence; sisters, Alice Thelma (Stensland) Two and Violet Darlene (Stensland) Marquette; and his brother, Lennie Rayford Stensland.

 

Floyd is survived by his wife, Arleta; brother-in-law, Leo Wayne Marquette; eight nieces and nephews, Connie (Two) Hallett, Bonnie (Two) MacK, Lowell Two, Robin Marquette, Julie (Marquette) Everett, Jill (Marquette) Lynch, Todd Marquette, Wade Scott Marquette; ten great-nieces and nephews; and some great-great nephews.

 

Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am on Friday September 27, 2019 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa with Pastor Rusty Phillips as the officiant.
