Betty Lou Ott

Betty L. Ott, 78, of Fayette, died Sunday, January 5, 2020, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, with her four daughters at her side.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette with Rev. Herbert Mueller, III officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette. There will be a luncheon at Grace Lutheran Church following the committal service. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, January 10^, 2020 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette and for one hour preceding the services on Saturday. Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. Online condolences may be left at www.beckermilnesrettig.com Betty Lou, daughter of Lester E. and Velma (Boie) Weidemann was born September 25, 1941, at West Union. She was baptized October 26, 1941, and confirmed April 3, 1955, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Betty graduated from North High School in 1959. She was married to Cletus Schmidt, who died in 1964. On August 20, 1966, Betty was united in marriage with Owen “Boots” Ott at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church-Richfield, rural Sumner. Betty provided day service out of her home, and was a talented seamstress, prior to working in the dietary department at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette for many years. She was a long time faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, served on the Ladies Auxiliary, and was a Girl Scout Leader. Betty enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, baking, her flower garden and bird watching.

The family would like to thank Stoney Brook Village, Maple Crest Manor, and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care their mother received over the last few years.

Betty is survived by her four daughters, Cindy (Dean) Vandersee of West Des Moines, Sandra (Mike) Prochaska of Stewartville, Minnesota, Shelly (Nils) Nesheim of Johnston, and Marcia (Darrin) Fidler of Spencer; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Edythe (Jim) Daniels of West Union; brother, Daryl (Sanda) Weidemann of Hawkeye; sister-in-law, Bev Weidemann of Sumner; and many nieces and nepehws.

In addition to her parents and husbands; she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Jim Weidemann; sister, Shirley Koch; and niece, Jill Koch.
