Karole Angerillo

Karole Angerillo

It is with great sadness in one hand, and jubilant celebration in the other, that I announce the news:

Karole Angerillo has shed her earthly bonds and is now in the everlasting care and love of her savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.   John. 25 -26

In the early morning light of April 2, 2020, under the tender care of her Stoney Brooke family staff, and in the company of her daughter, Karole lost her battle with heart and lung disease, just 3 months shy of her 86th birthday.

Over the past year she was blessed with visits, both in person and via video chat, from cherished family and friends from coast to coast. Many times she remarked how wonderful it was that her loved ones came to see her while she was still alive.

Only weeks ago, when her death was declared imminent within hours, and family and friends converged on her tiny apartment, newly equipped with a hospital bed right in the middle of the living room, she declared:

"My Wake was a success, and I am glad I was here to see it!"

Days before her departure from this life, her wit and humor still sharp as a tack, Karole had her photo posted on the Stoney Brooke Village Assisted Living's Facebook page. The sign she held had a famous Mark Twain quote: a bitter sweet irony now.

“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

The outpouring of love and support, the stories shared about Karole and the impact she made on lives, has been a great comfort, more than can be expressed. Every word spoken or written is precious, and we, the loving family of Karole Anne Hanson Anderson Angerillo, thank you profoundly for being a part of her life, and reaching out to us in our time of grief.

Karole will be laid to rest next to her husband of 36 years, Giuseppe "Joe" Angerillo, and her parents, Karl E. and Klara (Keffeler) Hanson in Waukon, Iowa.

God willing and with commitment by all Citizens of the World to stop the spread of the COVID-19, in better days we will gather at her grave to remember and honor “Karole with a K”, whose beautiful singing voice and naturally wavy red hair along with an abundance of smiles and compassion that she was always willing to share, has left this world a better place.

Karole, you were loved more than you know and you will be sorely missed. RIP.
