Clarence Ruckdashel

Clarence Eugene Ruckdashel, passed away on January 8, 2020 in Gilbert, Arizona. He was the third child of four children born to Alfred and Ina Ruckdashel, born on October 13, 1932 in Elgin, Iowa.

During Clarence’s high school years, he played football.  After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force on December 2, 1952

Clarence met Beverly Florence Nelson at a high school ball game in 1952 and were united as husband and wife on October 10, 1953.  They moved to Amarillo AFB, Texas where he was stationed in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic General Jet Tech.  He then was transferred to Germany as an Aircraft Mechanic Instructor in May,1956 and Beverly moved back to Clermont, IA.  He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on December 1, 1956.  They then bought a farm in Clermont, IA where they worked the farm  together until August 1970.  To this union six children were born.

After moving to Arizona in August 1970, he worked for Roeloff’s Dairy in Mesa until 1977.  They then moved to Trona, California, where he worked for Kerr McGee Chemical Plant until they retired in 2003 and they moved back to Arizona to be closer to family. They then went to work for mobile home sales to have something to do part-time until Beverly got angry and quit their job! He was very devoted to his wife, Beverly.  When she was placed in an assisted living with dementia as he could no longer care for her, he would take a taxi every day to see her, no matter how hot it became! His favorite past time all his life was reading.  In his later years, reading became a challenge as he had macular degeneration and was close to being blind.  We bought him a computer tablet and increased the font so he could read.   He also loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grand kids.  He was loved by his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids very much!  He will be missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by their children, Janice Kay Disbrow (Ruckdashel), Larry Eugene Ruckdashel, Brenda Lea (Jeffrey) Roepke (Ruckdashel) and Thomas Wayne (Michelle) Ruckdashel; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, brother-in-law  Ad (Diane) Nelson and sister-in-law Ardell Fortune (Nelson); and  two cousins Anna (Gene) Meyers; Francis Winters and Pat Toussaint, two nieces, Sharon (Dick) Hartley and Marvette (Dick) Shelofontiuk  and nephew, Philip (Jaynee) Ruckdashel.
