Rick Michael Davis, 57, of Wadena, Iowa passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was born December 11, 1962 to George and Karen (Herschinger) Davis in West Union, Iowa and was baptized at the United Methodist Church in West Union, IA. Rick graduated from West Delaware High School, Manchester, Iowa in 1981. After graduation, Rick attended Highland University in Las Vegas, New Mexico and played football. He then transferred to Iowa State University where he graduated in 1985 with a degree in Ag Business.

 

Rick was united in marriage with Linda Strong on August 5, 1989 at Illyria Community Church, Elgin, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Brandon, Joelle and Logan. Rick was an agronomist in northeast Iowa for over 30 years. He was most recently employed with Grain Bin Supply in Aurora, IA. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, being outdoors, riding his Harley, and was an avid Cyclones and Packers fan. He loved playing with his grandkids and spending time with friends and family. Rick was very proud of the home he and Linda built, with the walnut grove and pond where he enjoyed spending time. His grandkids lovingly referred to him as “Papa Tree”. 

 

Rick is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda, of Wadena; three children, Brandon (Heather) Davis of Elgin, Joelle (Jason Schuhmacher) Davis of Arlington; Logan (Meredith Williams) Davis of Wadena; grandchildren, Gunner, Mila and Madalean Davis; his parents, George and Karen Davis of East Troy, Wisconsin; siblings, George (Christine) Davis Jr. of Palmyra, Wisconsin and Lori Carty of Ryan, Iowa; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Beverly Strong of Elgin; his two aunts, Joann Guenther of West Union and Carol Davis of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

 

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Edna Herschinger, Kenneth and Bernice Davis and sister-in-law, Janet Helgerson. 

 

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Beulahland Christian Camp, rural Elgin, Iowa at 2:00 pm with a visitation an hour before. 

 

Family welcomes all attendees to gather after the service to celebrate Rick’s life. 

 

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elgin, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements.
