Jennie Cushion

Jennie L. Cushion, 90, of Maynard, Iowa died Tuesday afternoon, November 24, 2020 at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa.

A private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard with Rev. John Kerr officiating.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.

Memorials may be directed in her name to the Maynard Fire Department.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings and the recent surge in the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required.  Those in attendance are required to wear a mask at the funeral home.  We encourage relatives and friends not able to attend the service to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.

Jennie Lou Witte was born August 19, 1930, at Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of Fred C. and Belle (Miller) Witte.  She graduated from Oelwein High School.  On August 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to Leslie Leroy Cushion at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They later divorced.  Jennie worked for several years in food service at Upper Iowa University in Fayette and retired from West Central Community Schools, where she was a custodian.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Maynard.  Jennie enjoyed walking, needlecraft, bingo and word search books.

Jennie is survived by her 4 children: Connie (Mark) Dahlin of Dakota, Minnesota; Linda (Jeff) Alderson of Wadena; Les (Deb) Cushion of Fayette and Patti Cushion of Maynard; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister: Dixie Ehlers of Oelwein;sister-in-law: Judy Witte of Oelwein; and her dog Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Fred, Omar and Thomas Witte; and 2 sisters: Marcella Witte and Donna Paul.
