Alma Ameling


Alma A. Ameling, 86, of Hawkeye and formerly of St. Lucas, died Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas with Rev. Nick Radloff celebrating the Mass. Burial followed at the Church Cemetery. Visitation preceded the Mass on Friday starting at 9 a.m.. A Rosary was recited at 8:45 a.m. at the Church on Friday. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye is assisting Alma’s family. All attending the visitation and Mass are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Alma Ann, daughter of John T. and Philomena “Minnie” (Hackman) Winter was born December 14, 1934. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. Alma received her education in the St. Luke’s Catholic School. On May 5, 1954, she was united in marriage with Irvin Ameling at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed the Ameling family farm for many years. After retiring from farming, Alma worked at M & M Pizza in Waucoma for many years. Alma was a lifetime member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Rosary Society, and for many years was a member of the St. Lucas Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Alma is survived by her six children, Donna (Bruce) Fink of West Union, Kathy (Duane “Smokey) Langreck of Hawkeye, Sandy (Steve) Krivachek of Waterloo, Betty (Jeff) Langreck of West Union, Roger (Amy) Ameling of West Union, and Jeff Ameling of Hawkeye; nine grandchildren, Sawyer (Alexandria Glass) Fink, Charity (Chad) Anfinson, Nicole (Christian) Sampson, Kyle (Jaclyn) Krivachek, Kelsey (Bruce) Van Sickle, Adam (Jayme) Langreck, Kelly (Joey) Rains, and Dillon and Allison Ameling; fourteen great-grandchildren, Maya and Macie Anfinson, Reece and Mara Krivachek, Esther, Orson, and Ida Van Sickle, Chloe, Olivia, and Madi Langreck, Grover Rains, Aalayah and Kyler Ameling; three sisters-in-law, Arlene Huinker of Calmar, Bernice Einck of Waterloo, and Ida Ameling of Fort Akinson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin on November 10, 2010; great-grandson, Logan Blue on November 14, 2020; siblings, Irma (Virgil) Thuente, Leona (Vincent) Bullerman, Melvin (Mary Lou) Winter, and Delbert (Ruby) Winter; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe (Bernice) Ameling, Richard (Addie) Ameling, Alfred (Elaine) Ameling, Clarence Ameling, Marcella (Tony) Wurzer, Felix (Collette) Ameling, Pat Einck, and Viola (Cletus) Mihm.
