He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado. Carter was involved with F.F.A. at North Fayette-Valley, and wrestled and played football. He was currently a student at Oelwein Community Schools. Carter enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and did his basic training in the summer of 2020. He enjoyed trap shooting, fishing, farm work, being with friends (maybe playing a few pranks on them), loved his trucks (whether it be detailing them or putting accessories on), and loved and adored his siblings. Carter was an outgoing, selfless, and adventurous young man, who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Carter is survived by his mother, Kristy Cannon of Oelwein; father, Jason Cannon of Hawkeye; eight siblings, Cole, Tyler, Jordan, Jamison, Haylee, Macy, Carly, and Aubrey; maternal grandparents, Lesa Daniels of Postville and Chris Farmer of Strawberry Point; paternal grandparents, Jeff (Kim) Cannon of Hawkeye; Katie Turner of Waterloo; Jim Schuler of Fredericksburg and Deb Schuler of Decorah; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal great-grandparents; paternal grandmother, Sue Ungerer; and many other family members.
