Rodney Dale Guyer, 90 of Clermont, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa. Rodney was born March 5, 1933 to Aubrey C. and Mable (Christensen) Guyer East of West Union, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa. Rodney graduated from West Union High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

On February 15, 1958, Rodney was united in marriage with Doris T. Knutsen. Four sons were born to this union. Rodney was a lifelong member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and using his sawmill. Rodney made a lot of things for his children and grandchildren, mostly furniture. When asked how he was he would say. "I wouldn't brag about it ". Rodney was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Robert L. Becker, 71, of Sumner, died peacefully Thursday, September 28, 2023, due to complications from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Burial will follow at Union Mound Cemetery in Sumner. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 6th at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner and for one-hour preceding services at the Church on Saturday. Memorials may be made in Bob's name to St. John Lutheran Church, SEMS, The Terrace at Hillcrest Living, Gundersen Palmer Hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Burial was  held at the Hawkeye Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 25th at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Sumner and for one-hour preceding services at the Church on Tuesday. Karen L. Weston, 81, of rural Fayette, Iowa, died peacefully on Friday evening, September 22, 2023, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Funeral Service:  10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating. Carol Ann Guyer, age 77, of West Union sadly passed away on September 23, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-St Luke’s Hospital-Cedar Rapids.  She was born on September 27, 1945, in Postville, IA, to Paul and Iona Welzel.  She graduated from Postville High School in 1964.  She married Russel C. Guyer on September 24, 1965.  Carol is survived by her four daughters: Cheryl (Dean) Schmitt, Linda (Darby) Jellings, Jackie (Charlie) O’Connell, and Stacy Oakland.  She is also survived by her sister Linda (Bill) Anderson, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren with two on the way.  Carol was preceded in death by her son Jay Guyer and parents.

Carol was a dedicated homemaker while raising her five children on a rural farm in West Union.  Later in life she moved from the farm and settled in town where she managed her own house cleaning business. She finished her career employed in environmental services at Gundersen Palmer for eight years.

Shirley Ann Rowland, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, who spent the most recent thirty years in West Union and Clermont, passed away September 19, 2023 at the age of 76, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Fennimore, Wisconsin. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Shirley was born on April 22, 1947 in Waterloo and was the oldest child of Rhoda (Sears) and Keith Wilkinson. She attended elementary school in Geneseo at the same school where her parents met. When the family moved to Sumner, Shirley went to country school, and then in 6th grade she attended “town school” in Sumner. When Shirley was in 9th grade, they moved outside of Oelwein where she graduated in 1965. Throughout the years, Shirley was a bookkeeper and secretary for several different companies and courthouses. She retired from the Fayette County Courthouse in the Community Services office in 2009.

Stanley Louis Lehman, age 86, died peacefully on September 15, 2023 in Evanston Hospital. Stan was born in Elgin, lowa on August 8, 1937 to Naomi Shupbach Lehman and Louis Lehman.

Stan was the beloved husband of Barbara Gassen Lehman, the loving father of Gregory (Andrea), LoriAnn, Leanna (Jason), and Lawrence (Karen), and the much loved grandfather of Hanna, Lukas, Grant, Ella, Kirk, Devan, Drake, and Kenzington.

Stan took great pride in his grandchildren and loved to hear of their exploits and successes.

A beautiful and much loved lady left this world on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the presence of family members.   Janann Marie (Mork) Seabrooke, 88, daughter of the late Kenneth Benjamin Mork and Georgia Meyer Mork, husband of Alan A. Seabrooke and mother of Jill Mack and Timothy Seabrooke passed at Stoney Brook Village in West Union, Iowa.

Jan was born in a tiny house on a creek bottom in rural Clayton County on February 8, 1935. She was joined in the young family by a sister, Nona, three years later, and a brother, Kendall, in 1949. By this time the family had moved to the farm they had acquired on the Elgin-Gunder Road.
