Sharon Ann Morse, 78, of West Paducah, Kentucky formerly of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on June 6, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 19, 1944 in Dakota City, Iowa to John and Christine Pick. She was a graduate of Corpus Christi High School, Galesburg, Illinois and The Business College of Davenport, Iowa.

Sharon had a deep love of the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and gardening. This love of all things outdoors gave her a great passion for animals; her horses and various animals on the farm as well as breeding and grooming dogs, mainly schnauzers as additional income was always appreciated on the farm. She was also an excellent seamstress with an avid appreciation of the arts. She had recently retired from her business venture in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Todd Gefaller, a North Fayette graduate, 57, passed away at the University Hospital, Iowa City, after a long illness.

  He is survived by his parents, Holly and Dewayne Gefaller ,of Hawkeye, a brother, Trent (Jenny) Gefaller of Oelwein and two nieces, Savannah Schaubroeck  (Justin) and Sydney of Oelwein. No services were held.

Janet "Jan" Sheridan, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, in Waterloo, IA. Born on March 15, 1945, in Wellman, IA, the daughter of Clois and Eathyle (Groff) Ellis. Jan was known for her creativity, intelligence, and passion in everything she did.

Edward E. “Ed” Meyer, 92, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, May 31, 2023, at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. June 16, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Rev. Ray Atwood officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on June 15, 2023, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on June 16, 2023, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Parish Rosary Service:  4:15 p.m. on June 15, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Leslie Carleen Miller was born September 29, 1928 in West Union, Iowa to LeRoy "Fergie" Alden and Vivian Imogene (Schroyer) Sturch.  Carleen attended school in West Union, graduating in 1946.  Attended one year of college at the University of Iowa 1946 - 1947.

On October 4, 1947, Carleen was united in marriage to Merlin Miller at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, Iowa.  They had four children, Steven, Ronn, Shari and Holly.

Carleen worked at the West Union Sale Barn every Thursday for several years and then went to work at the West Union Cooperative as a secretary for 24 years before she retired.

Marlyn Subra, 90, of Fayette, and formerly of West Union, passed away Friday May 19, 2023 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.  Visitation was held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein with funeral services to follow, beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Private graveside services will be in the West Union Cemetery at West Union.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for later designation.  www.geilenfeldfh.com.

 Rachal Nicole Rasmussen passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at. St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Clermont, with visitation from 9 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. at the church.

 Inurnment will be at a later date in Forest City, IA

 Rachal was born in Korea on December 24, 1981, as Nam Hee Choi and arrived in the U.S. to live with her adoptive parents, Lucy and Jim, on June 19, 1984.

 While growing up in Leland, Iowa, she loved music; singing to everything on the radio. In school, she played the flute. She was a talented artist who loved to draw and write poetry and stories.

 She attended Forest City and Oakland Community Schools, later obtaining her G.E.D.

 Rachal lived in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area most of her adult life.

 She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathan Rasmussen on January 1, 2000.

Betty Lou Kurdelmeyer, 91 of Monona, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Betty was born August 7, 1931 to Henry and Matilda (Halvorson) Christianson in rural Elgin, Iowa. She attended Elkader High School and graduated in 1949.

On October 25, 1954, Betty was united in marriage with Robert “Bob” Kurdelmeyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Betty worked as a bookkeeper and together with Robert, also operated Kurdelmeyer’s Supper Club in Monona for many years. Betty enjoyed golfing well into her 80’s, playing cards, fishing, gardening and spending time with the grandchildren.
