William (Bill) Langreck

William (Bill) Langreck, age 77, died Monday January 15, 2024, at Gundersen’s Health System in Lacrosse WI from complications due to a chronic lung condition.                 

Mary Jane Wagner

Mary Jane Matilda Wagner age 79, of Millersburg, Iowa formerly of West Union, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at English Valley Care Center in North English, Iowa.

Mary Jane was born on November 5, 1944 in New Hampton, Iowa at New Hampton Hospital to Herman and Hilda (Gerleman) Elmer and attended St. Lucas High School graduating in 1963. On June 20, 1970, she married Carl Wagner at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. To this union, one child was born.

Mary Pitcher

Mary Beth (Trewin) Pitcher passed away at age 85 on November 9, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Her son Stan was with her.  Beth was born on December 9, 1938 to Ronald and Frances (Burke) Trewin in Alpha, Iowa.  She was predeceased by both parents and her brother, Richard.

Beth graduated from Alpha High School where she was an excellent student.  She loved sports, especially basketball.  She excelled on her high school team at a time when there weren’t many opportunities for girls.

She attended Iowa State University for a year before heading to Minneapolis and later Chicago to work.  In Chicago she met Jim Pitcher who she married in 1963.  She is survived by three children, Mary (Hock) Szczepaniak, Stanford and Christopher, and four grandchildren: Bobby (Lucy), Bradley, Garon and Theresa Szczepaniak.     

Marion Julia Heying

Marion Julia Heying, age 89, passed away peacefully at The Good Samaritan Center in West

Union Saturday, January 20, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family. Marion was born on November 30, 1934 to Ben and Rose (Rausch) Bodensteiner on the family farm in St. Lucas, Iowa. She graduated from St Luke’s High School.

Through her love for dancing, she met the love of her life, Dennis Henry Heying at Inwood Dance Hall in Spillville, Iowa. On October 25, 1955 she married Dennis at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. To this union nine children were born.

Everything Marion did started with love. She had a huge heart and an insatiable love of giving. She loved everyone and it was more than evident that everyone loved her back. It warmed her heart to find that special item and give it to those she loved. Marion was one of a kind and devoted her life to spreading joy and laughter. She has inspired us all to “Love Like Marion”.

James (Jim) Edmund Schneberger

James (Jim) Edmund Schneberger, age 94, of Calmar, died on January 10, 2024, at Wellington Place in Decorah after a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 304 South Maryville Street, Calmar, IA, with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding.  The burial was in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation was from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Helms Funeral Home, French Chapel, 202 South Washington St., in Calmar, IA and after 10:00 a.m. at the church Wednesday morning. 

Georgia Rae Conner

Georgia R. Conner, 52, of Sumner, died Friday, January 5, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home starting at 11:00 AM. Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette is assisting Georgia’s family. Donna Dee Robinson

Donna D. Robinson, 90, of Hawkeye, died Friday, January 19, 2024, at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union.

Donna Dee, daughter of George, Sr. and Delia (Wendland) Boess was born September 5, 1933, in Hawkeye. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Donna received her education in the Hawkeye School System and graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1951. Following graduation, she would attend Pitzi’s Cosmetology School in Waterloo and worked at a salon in Waukon for a few years.

Keith Anderson

Keith Anderson died Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral plans are pending with Burham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home. The previously planned 60^th Birthday Open House on January 27 has been cancelled.

Wayne Allen Thiese

Wayne Allen Thiese, 90, of Guttenberg, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa. Funeral services will commence at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Guttenberg City Cemetery.  Pastor Mike Ashman will officiate.

Virginia Wedo

Virginia Lea Wedo, 92 of Elgin, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Virginia was born June 3, 1931 to Frank and Renabell (Hansel) Borwig in Volga, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa with the class of 1948.
