LaVonne Orva (Swenson) Nelson, 88, of Decorah, Iowa formerly of Clermont, Iowa,

went to her eternal home on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. LaVonne was born September 12, 1931, the eldest of seven children born to Roy and Viola Swenson. After attending country school for six years she continued in town and graduated from Clermont High School with the class of 1949. LaVonne worked as secretary for the Superintendent of Schools and the School Board following

graduation.

 

In August of 1951 she was married to Millard Nelson, Jr. at West Clermont

Debra Rae Larson, 64, of Postville, Iowa, died in Lacrosse Wisconsin on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 12:02 am from complications of Covid 19. Deb was born on September 20, 1955, in Fayette Iowa to Velma Marie Thomas and Phillip Montgomery Cox.

Deb married Rod Larson on July 14, 1990 in West Union, Iowa. They lived in Oelwein, Iowa, for many years before moving to Postville. Deb delivered newspapers for several years and most recently, enjoyed working at Agri Star where she was employed for almost 6 years.

Patricia A. Grimm, 68, of Maynard, Iowa, died peacefully at home on Monday morning, April 6, 2020 after a long, hard battle with stage four breast cancer.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a private family visitation at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard and a private family graveside service at Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard, Iowa.  Public memorial services will be announced at a later time.  We encourage relatives and friends to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.  

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

Susan Geraldine McDonald, 61, of Ossian, Iowa died Sunday, March 29, 2020.  Susan was born May 25, 1958 to Virlyn and Olga (Rystad) McDonald in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She graduated from Larimore High School in 1976,

 

Susan was a CNA at the Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa from 1999 to 2010 and loved working there. She had two dogs , Yeti and Brinley , that she adored.

 

Susan is survived by her four children, Holly (Walter) Witt of Ossian, Iowa, Jason Johnson of Cresco, Iowa, Whitney (Rashone) Lowery of Cresco, Iowa and Wyatt (Sierra) Opperman of Ellsworth, Iowa; five granddaughters, Ava, Amber, Nevaeh, Ra’Niyah and Rory; and four siblings, John (Valerie) McDonald of Larimore, North Dakota, Mary (Robert) Boushee of Emerado, North Dakota, Darryl (Cindy) McDonald of Larimore, North Dakota and Mark McDonald of Fargo, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virlyn and Olga McDonald.

Larry Wayne Ishman, 77, of Eldorado, Iowa entered into heaven on Friday, March 27, 2020. Larry was born December 5, 1942 in West Union, Iowa, the son of Clarence "Bud" and LaVon Ishman.

 

Larry met the love of his life, Madalen, and was united in marriage in West Union, Iowa on August 5,1962. He worked for many years for Wonder Bread, as a route salesman and later became a plant manager. Larry also worked at Pharmaceutical Innovators, repairing pill counting machines. He worked hard, as was proud to do so. Larry and Madalen traveled across the country fixing the pill machines. Larry loved camping, cars, fishing, working on lawn mower motors and bicycles, eating muffins, loving cats and dogs, and his family. He will be dearly missed.

Beverly Buckley, age 70 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Beverly was born on February 13, 1950, to parents Dana and Dea (VanHorn) Buckley in Sac City. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Sac City.

   Beverly grew up in Sac City with her parents and siblings where she attended Sac City Community Schools. She graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1968. Beverly was blessed with three children whom she devoted her life to. She was such a proud mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She enjoyed spending time on the lake boating with her fiancé, Lonnie, and all of her family. Beverly loved attending her grandkids’ activities and sporting events, she was their biggest fan.

Dr. Ignatius Francis Greene

Dr. Ignatius Francis Greene, 85, of Decorah, Iowa and Naples, Florida, passed away Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at Winneshiek County Medical Center surrounded by family, after an eight-month battle with lung cancer.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Church, 418 East Main Street, Ossian, Iowa after the Coronavirus is contained and will be announced at a later date. A luncheon will be served after Mass at Oneota Golf & Country Club, 1417 Golf Road, Decorah, Iowa. His ashes will be returned to Ireland for burial.
