A get together to celebrate Rosella Boleyn’s 89^th birthday will be held on Feb. 3 at the Elgin Legion Hall from 2-5 p.m. There will be live music. Family and friends are welcome. 

Wayne and Judy Sutter

Wayne and Judy Sutter will be celebrating their 50^th wedding anniversary. Wayne Sutter and Judy Nutting were married February 14, 1969, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union. 

Wayne is retired from Palmer Lutheran Hospital and Judy is retired from North Fayette School.

An open house honoring the couple will be held February 9, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 103 E. Main St., West Union.

Liam Frederick Schupbach

Kent and Katie Schupbach of Elgin are proud to announce the birth of their son, Liam Frederick Schupbach. Liam was born December 23, 2018, in Waukon.

He weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He joins siblings, Ava, Ella, Brody, Brynly and Jace Schupbach.

Grandparents are Peggy Hangartner, Postville; Brad and Terry Rekow, Elgin; John and Janet Schupbach, Clermont. Great grandparnes are Leigh and Gwen Rekow of Postville.

Niall Downing

Tyler and Sarah Downing of Charles City are proud to announce the birth of their son, Niall James, who was born Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Waverly Health Center.

Niall weighed 9 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 23 inches in length at birth.

He joins older sister Laken at home.

Grandparents are Dan and Ruth Meyer of West Union and Michael and Joyce Downing of Charles City.

Janice Pape Thiese

Janice Pape Thiese and her family invite friends and relatives to join them at an open house Saturday, Nov. 24, to celebrate Janice’s 90^th birthday.

The celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Guttenberg Municipal Building, 502 S. 1^st Street in Guttenberg.

A card shower is also being held in conjunction with the event.

Bobbi Ney and Kevin Vierow were married Saturday, Sept. 1, at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian. The Rt. Rev. Terry Landsgaard officiated at the 3:30 p.m. ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Dennis and Rosie Ney of West Union and Rick and Kathy Vierow of Fayette.

Wearing a long, sleeveless, trumpet-style ivory gown featuring a beaded bodice and lace overlay, the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She carried a bouquet of burgundy and deep orange flowers accented with greenery.

Attending her as the matron of honor was her friend Whitney Wells of Waverly. Bridesmaids were Randee Winter, friend of the bride, of Waucoma; Kariann Elsbernd, cousin of the bride, of Elgin; and Molly Vierow, sister of the groom, of Fayette.

The flower girl was Zoey Gerleman.

Gloria Sue Schatz

Gloria Sue Schatz of West Union will celebrate her 85^th birthday on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Her family would like to invite all friends, neighbors and relatives to help Sue celebrate by joining in a card shower for her.

Sue and her late husband, Ken, are the parents of three daughters, Robin (Kermit) Solheim of Cedar Rapids, Vicki (Rory) Starks of West Union, and Debra (Steve) Wilson of Swisher. Sue’s family also includes seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
