Anna Wenger

Anna Wenger of Elgin is looking forward to celebrating her 90^th birthday on Saturday, Jan. 27, with family and friends at an open house.

The celebration will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Illyria Community Church, rural Elgin.

All are invited to attend, but Anna requests no gifts, please; your presence will be your gift.

Dick Schroyer

Richard “Dick” Schroyer, 82, of West Union, Iowa died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at his home in West Union, Iowa. 

Richard Allen was born April 5, 1935 to Otto and Victoria (Stahl) Schroyer in West Union, Iowa. 

He attended West Union School. 

Dick proudly joined and served in the United States Army from Jan. 15, 1958 to Jan. 13, 1964. 

Dick earned his GED in June 1975 from Northeast Iowa Area One Technical School and also received his EMT certification in January 1976.

Dick was united in marriage with Mary Gitch on Sept. 16, 1958 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Iowa. Two children were born to this union.

Dick worked for the Iowa DOT and for Croell Redi-Mix as a truck driver, retiring in 1999 at age 65.

Dick was a member of Abate District 23 and Zion Lutheran Church. 

Barbara Jirak

In celebration of Tom and Mary Loyd’s 50^th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Dec. 28, their daughters would like to honor them with a card shower.

Jerry and Jeannie Conner of Hawkeye will soon be celebrating their 50^th wedding anniversary.  

Jerry Conner and Jeannie Martin were married Dec. 2, 1967, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado.   

They are parents of two children, Todd (Christina) Conner of Jesup and Tracy (Tom) Wilson of Shellsburg.  Their family also includes four grandchildren.

Jerry is retired from Garvin’s Hardware, and Jeannie is retired from North Fayette School District.

The couple will celebrate this golden anniversary with a family dinner at the White House Supper Club in St. Lucas.
