North Fayette Valley was back in action last week at the Jesup Invitational as the girls’ and boys’ cross country teams went up against some fierce competition.

“It was a highly talented group of runners that we competed against last night,” said coach Jon Kullen on Wednesday morning. “It was the perfect opportunity to preach, ‘run YOUR race.’ Otherwise, a lot of runners would burn out trying to keep up with that crowd.”

In the girls’ varsity race, there were six ranked teams and 18 total full teams competing as the TigerHawks came home 10th with 240 points. Among the teams in competition were schools from Class 1A, 2A, and 3A.

Friday night was a rough one for the North Fayette Valley football team as the TigerHawks fell to a surging New Hampton squad, 30-14, to fall to 2-1 in district play. The good news; however, is that NFV remains in a four-way tie for the Class 2A District 3 lead with just two games remaining.

“We couldn’t move the ball early on and they controlled the ball well on a couple of long drives that left our kids on defense for the majority of the first half,” said coach Justin Heins, who’s TigerHawk squad trailed 14-0 at halftime.
