Henry A. Thompson, 80, of Randalia, died, Friday, December 31, 2021, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 7, 2022, at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation will precede services at the funeral home on Friday starting at 9:30 AM. Becker & Son Funeral Home in Fayette is assisting Henry’s family. Henry Albert, son of Tilmer and Ethel (Nelson) Thompson was born July 12, 1941, at home in Clermont. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Clermont. Henry received his education in the Country Schools, rural Clermont. On January 31, 1970, he was united in marriage with Barbara Fish at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont. The couple farmed in the Randalia area for many years. Henry worked at the Maynard Co-Op for twenty-five years and also delivered newspapers for the Des Moines Register for twenty-five years. Following his retirement, Henry remained busy working as a farmhand for TSG Farms.  Henry was a proud supporter of local Volunteer Fire Departments, including Maynard, Westgate, and Hawkeye. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, tubing, crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially euchre and poker, and was a gardening enthusiast.

Henry is survived by his son, Brian of West Union; sisters-in-law, Patricia Potter of Decorah, Roberta Anderson of Plymouth, and Sandra Thompson of Fayette; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dana Leitzman, and Dave and Diane Ungerer, all of Hawkeye.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; son, Todd; and brothers, Alan, Ronald, and Duane in infancy.
